Description: I had never heard of this program until a fellow colleague shared AVID as her "Contribution to the Community". I truly love the idea of supporting and encouraging struggling students with organization and skills to become stronger students, and therefore confident and successful learners.
Analysis: In particular, I think the note taking strategies would be very beneficial for our students. All students have been assigned several classes on Compass Learning. Most students take notes while working thorough a class. But most students take too many notes because they are overwhelmed with the amount of information they receive per lesson activity. However a specific note taking strategy would provide real purpose and meaning for students working through a course instead of taking random notes to pass a quiz.
Reflection: This will real more reserach and familiarity before this strategy can be implemented.
